On the 23rd September, Anna and Marco from Coral Eye Bangka took a boat over to the mainland to present the No-trash Triangle Initiative at the Coastal Waste Management Seminar at Sam Ratulangi University in Manado.

Marieka Huhn of Luminocean based on Banda island and Rio Novak Puasa of Seasoldier also attended. The seminar was an opportunity for us to demonstrate how we are implementing our four pillar approach in tackling Bangka, and other Indonesian islands’, waste problems.
We shared ideas, successes and failures and created plans for working together in the future.

Marieka also visited Bangka island to see our project first hand and share her experiences of successfully implementing waste management systems on Banda island... Lots of great ideas and resources to share!

With approximately 6000 inhabited islands in Indonesia, we’re certainly going to have to work together to manage coastal waste effectively, and seminars like this give real hope to that becoming reality.
