New green jobs created as we expand

As we expand our model across North Sulawesi, we’re creating jobs across our supply chain. From hiring the local community to collect waste from our resort partners, to building out our sorting station staff who process the waste; providing local employment opportunities is fundamental to the circular economic model we’re putting in place. A vital cog in the No-Trash Triangle machine is our logistics partner, CV Daur Sinar Gemilang (DSG). As we help them expand their reach, so too are they expanding their team.

DSG was founded as a social enterprise by Amelia Tungka, a prominent business woman in North Sulawesi. Amelia has long supported local anti-plastic pollution initiatives and in 2018, set up a logistics network to provide support to plastic collection outfits across the region. DSG is based in Manado city, where they have a waste sorting station, equipped to handle tonnes of plastic waste each week. They work with initiatives across the region to organise transportation, cleaning, sorting and processing of plastic waste collected from beaches, rivers and businesses across North Sulawesi.

Providing employment opportunities to locals, we’re working with DSG as they expand their operation, allowing the team to process more plastic waste and contribute further to the circular economic model the company was set up to support. The team has grown to five full time employees in the past month. Made up of individuals from a range of backgrounds, DSG is able to provide a regular stable income to its employees thanks to the commitments from NTTI’s partners, creating a sustainable economic model. Made up of trusted and dedicated individuals, Amelia is building a team that is invested in keeping plastic out of our oceans!

Meet the team!

Ismat Labaran used to work on his family’s farm where income was irregular and far from guaranteed. His job at DSG has enabled him to move to Manado where he’s enjoying lots of new experiences and opportunities!
