Swim for the Coral Triangle
The students of Solagratia School decided to fundraise for NTTI and support the expansion of School on the Beach program for local students in North Sulawesi.
Small Swimmers, Big Mission!
On 17th June, 35 students attempted and arrived to Bunaken Island swimming across the Bunaken channel.
For this edition, we are asking for a symbolic contribution:
1 euro
for every student who successfully reached Bunaken.
Since 2010
the Solagratia Foundation organizes a special snorkel & swim challenge:
an approximately 5 km crossing from the mainland to Bunaken Island.
This year, around 40 students will take part in what will be the 16th edition of the event. Depending on sea conditions and individual pace, the crossing usually takes between 2 and 4 hours to complete.
The participants are the students of Senior High School SMK Solagratia, a school that has been sponsored by Thalassa Dive Resort and its founder Simone Gerritsen since 1997.
Through fundraising, the construction of the school building and continuous educational support, Simone and the Thalassa team have helped generations of local children grow up with greater opportunities connected to the tourism industry and the ocean.
More than a sport challenge.
Swimming across these waters means showing resilience, courage and trust in themselves.
One of the messages Simone has always encouraged is simple: never give up. If you really want something, you must fight for it.
